FAQs about Pre-employment Medical Examination:

Why should I choose pre-employment medical assessment?

The employers know their responsibility and take their work seriously. This means they know the risks that other employees have and try to handle them properly in order to prevent any injury to colleagues at the work place.

What should I do if I had injury or illness earlier?

Our medical practitioner will evaluate the injury caused and detect if there are further risks to be managed at the work place. It is necessary to answer all the questions to the practitioner about your past medical record.

Do I need to carry any document during the appointment?

Yes, you will have to bring your photo ID. For example, your driving license. Otherwise, we won’t be able to conduct your medical check-ups. If you wear lenses, prescription glasses or hearing aids, make sure to bring them with you.

What can I wear at the appointment?

There isn’t any specific dress code for the examination but you will have to remove your clothing at certain stages during the thorough medical check-up. It is advised to wear proper underwear when performing the urine test. If you need to go for work fitness assessment, try wearing loosely fitted comfortable clothes and running shoes.

What else should I consider for my medical test?

  • The time needed will vary from one to two hours depending on the extent of the examination.
  • You will have to change into a gown given by the clinic.
  • The result of audiometry or hearing test will not have any side effects. However, you should avoid exposure to loud noises for a few hours before the medical examination, as this might affect the testing results.
  • Spirometry or lung function tests might be required and you may need to use a Ventolin inhaler during the assessment. It is advised not to smoke before undergoing the medical test.

What will happen during the medical examination?

The medical assessment will depend on the needs of the organisation regarding the necessary tests that you have to undergo. For this, you have to fill out a questionnaire and conduct a physical examination to ensure that you are fit to work. One of our health care professionals will assess your abdomen, neck, chest, spine and all the joints carefully.

Why should I perform alcohol and drug tests?

You may be asked to perform urine drug screening for alcohol or drugs. These include; amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, methamphetamines, opiates and sleeping tablets. Cannabis might stay within your body for a few days, when used daily for weeks and it can also be detected if used occasionally.

It is advised to drink at least 2 to 3 cups of water before going for urine test. If you over dilute your urine, this can be shown by determining the level of creatinine present in the urine. If the creatinine level is very low, the sample will need to be recollected for accuracy.

Can I get a copy of my medical tests?

We follow a strict policy for medical examinations and the tests are always followed with the collection and dissemination of any personal details. You need to inform us how you would like to get the results for yourself and your employees.
